You don’t have to be Nike to “Just Do It”

Kingdom Here Ministries began as four guys realizing it is absolutely necessary & urgent to take the words of Christ literally when he says…

…’Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” Matt 25:40. Simply, Kingdom Here is our attempt to meet the deepest needs of those in their darkest hour.

This morning— after coxing myself out of bed with the promise of coffee— I joined the Kingdom Here crew at the Salvation Army down from Enterprise Mill. The group today was a made up of around 10 great men who are committed to faith in action by visiting homeless men and women every other Wednesday at the Salvation Army (downtown) and then at Mercy Ministries (Harrisburg) to share the Good News, give toiletries, supplies, and clothes, and really just to build relationships with homeless men and women in Augusta.

I was thrilled to see how the crew’s long-term commitment with these people had resulted in friendships that were rich, fun, and meaningful. It was an honor to hear the stories of the homeless men and women and to be brought into their lives in some small way.

If you’re interested in joining the Kingdom Here Ministry then head to the Salvation Armry at 7am on Wednesday, February 8th (and every other week from there). Look for more complete information on their blog.
